Many qualified professionals
It is both normal and helpful to shop for a therapist. It is a good idea speak with more than one therapist before committing to the therapy process. You will invest a significant amount of time and money in your therapy and it is very important that you feel confident and comfortable with your choice in therapist. If you don’t think I am a good match for you, I will be happy to provide you with some names of other therapists, so that you can find the best match for your needs.
Likewise, if I don’t believe that I have the skills and qualifications for your particular concerns, I will let you know and give you some names of other therapists who might better suit you.
Purpose of the consultation
The purpose of the consultation is for you to get to know me a little, ask me any questions you may have, and see if you feel comfortable in the room with me. I will also ask you to tell me why you are seeking therapy at this time and what you are hoping to achieve. It is important that I believe I have the knowledge, skills and qualifications to help you. If you feel comfortable with me, and I believe that I am qualified to help you, then we may decide to set-up an initial appointment.
